HC=MLB?!

Much to the dismay of no one, spring has pounced upon us again. April, of course, brings us National Welder’s Month, tax day and Casey Kasem’s birthday (don’t worry, I signed your name to the card). Oh, and another Major League Baseball season has begun in earnest. Actually, it began a couple weeks ago when the Los Angeles Dodgers played the Arizona Diamondbacks in Australia. Or, if you prefer, when the Dodgers played the Padres on American soil on March 30th. Or when most teams commenced their seasons the following day. But definitely one of those three! Congratulations, outgoing Commissioner Selig. Part of your enduring legacy is that no one knows when opening day is. Feeling nostalgic, I made a trip to the awesome Baseball Almanac site and found my way to a page that listed the alma mater of every applicable MLB player. Sorting it by school, I saw he usual suspects, like USC and Texas. But my jaw hit the floor when I saw that my alma mater, Holy Cross, has sent the sixth-highest amount of players to the big leagues! Of course, no one has made it for many years and I’m fully aware this is of more interest to the HC grads out there. All the same, Holy Cross’ presence on this list is pretty anachronistic. Go Crusaders! WARNING: reading this list is ridiculously addictive.
